So…I’d be dead without you.

In 2 weeks I’m running the 2022 Boston Marathon to support Caring for A Cure, the Boston Based Nurse Started Charity that is redefining what NGO and Non-Profit giving and donations looks like. This charity saved my life three years ago when I had two bone marrow transplants on their floor at MGH. Their actions changed the course of my life, and my families lives. I’d be dead without them~!

Post Run Selfie — All Possible Due to Caring for A Cure and MGH teams!

As I train for this marathon, here are some of the thank you’s that run through my head — as I have been through an amazing experience of human life and wouldn’t be alive without the people that surrounded me during this time.

MGH CFAC Nurses:

Jeanne, thank you for shaving my head when my hair started to fall out. Thank you for talking to me about death. You made me stronger.

My brush the days before we shaved my head.

Heidi and Rhys, thank you for seeing me through hours of complicated chemo and long conversations about kids, marriage, work, and life. You made me stronger.

Sara and Tina, thank you for running an amazing floor of nurses that are empowered to save lives. And for the podcast talk. You made me stronger.

Laura, thank you for driving in from Martha’s Vineyard to care for us on Lunder 10. You made me stronger.

Thank you all nurses in the cellular therapy group! (this is what bone marrow transplant looks like)

Kate and Christine — thank you for taking care of me during the rabbit serum ATG — you never left my side while my body rejected the medicine. You made me stronger.

Kristen — thank you for making me laugh even in the grossest moments and days. You made me stronger

Connie — thank you for staying funny and warm when things got dark. You made it possible to keep coming to MGH. You made me stronger.

Kelly — thank you for taking my vitals over 430 times over 3 years. Thank you for being a lighthouse in this storm. You made me stronger.

Jessica — thank you for being a model for how to live vibrantly after trauma. You made me stronger.

Colleen — thank you for sharing the human female experience with me as we grow. Having a caregiver who is also a peer has changed me. You made me stronger.

Hugo — thank you for reminding me how to feel good in my body, thank you for your amazing skills in human wellness and talk of our sons. You made me stronger.

To every single one of you in CFAC and who I’ve ever met, or gotten to spend time with — I thank you. Daily.

Caring For a Cure — thank you for giving me this chance to run in the brilliant shores of Boston as I train to raise money for you all to keep making miracles happen.

Thank you all who read this — please donate to Caring for a cure!
